About Us

We’re here to serve our clients and to make sure that our clients are the ones who are successful — whether that be for themselves, their families, their friends, or their chosen charities.

This is why we do what we do.

In our Client Pledge section, we detailed our Fiduciary Oath and Billing practices. Those are so important to us that they bear repeating here. They should be equally important to you as well.

Our Principal, Jim Ward, is a FEE-ONLY, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Estate Planning and Elder Law Attorney, and Investment Adviser Representative under J Ward Financial Services, LLC, a Registered Investment Advisor.

In addition to his J.D. and CFP® RICP®, Jim also has his LL.M. law degree, which is a post-graduate specialization law degree in Estate Planning, all of which came after his first career with his B.S degree in Economics and Management, and his M.S. degree in Agronomy.

Our Fiduciary Oath

We will always put our clients’ best interests first.  We will act with the prudence, skill, care, diligence, and good judgement of a professional.  We will not mislead our clients, and we will provide clear and fair disclosure of all pertinent facts.  We will avoid conflicts of interest and fully disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

Billing Practices

Our fair, FEE-ONLY compensation model is based on the level of assets we manage, with a tiered fee schedule.  We are a FEE-ONLY advisor.  Be careful — Anyone who is fee-based, or won’t state in writing that they’re FEE-ONLY, is earning commissions on their recommendations or product sales to you.

Our commitment to you is that we never receive commissions or referral fees on investment products or from referring you to tax or insurance professionals.

Through the counseling of thousands of clients, Jim has been able to forge important client relationships to better serve his clients.  As one client said to Jim, “You’re lucky that you really like what you do and you get to help people with so many important things for their families.”  Yes, indeed.

Estate Planning and Elder Law are areas of great fulfilment for attorneys who really care about the well-being of their clients.  Financial planning is an extension of that and it comes after years of having clients ask me to help with their investments. Financial planning for clients allows me to apply things I’ve worked on and studied for years, and it’s a culmination and continuation of the joys of rewarding and meaningful work for people I really care about.

It’s all about relationships with clients, and how I can understand them, protect them, and really help them work towards their goals.

Our success comes through using our interdisciplinary approach and really caring about the success of our clients’ goals.  The interdisciplinary approach we use simply allows us to see things a bit differently than others.
